Make Music NY Festival June 21, 2008

It has been quite a while since I performed. It felt like part of me was dying when I was not. Finally, I can afford to pay my musicians again. CD baby had sent me an email saying that I should apply to be a Make Music NY performer. I applied and was accepted to perform at Dante Park. There was no electricity, so I had to buy a generator and a portable pa system. This was an expensive gig. No money was made at all, but it was good exposure. The musicians are always hired guns, because everyone is so busy hustling. But my old friend/bass player, Jair-Rohm Parker Wells, from my days living in Sweden was home(NJ) and stepped up to play for me. It felt great knowing he was there. It was a very hot day. 85 degrees, I believe. Tons of action going on around the area. I had envisioned attracting a crowd and my visualizations worked. There were children dancing to Proud Freak which was probably the biggest highlight of my day. They are so pure and if something I did/wrote spoke to them, it makes it all worth while. I hope things start to come around. I want to perform for a living,I will not stop singing until I die. That is a promise. I want to make my entire living from singing and be on tour most of the year. I want to buy a home to call my own. a place where I can rest and feel safe. Make it so.
