You must fall down before you can walk

For years, my songwriting partner, has urged me to back myself up on guitar. Today, I found the courage to actually do it. I have played guitar for years writing my songs behind closed doors. I have played to explain to the musicians what I hear in my head. Today, I played at a small cafe in Edmonds, WA called Cafe Louvre. It was nerve wrecking. I am used to being surrounded by my musicians backing me up. This was a totally different feeling. It felt awkward. Especially the first 2 songs, but after that, it felt better. I still feel most comfortable just singing, but I respect my songwriting partner and figure there must be something to him so vehemently believing this is something I must do. So, the first time, although rocky is down. I have walked over the coals. Now to go back again. Moving to the great northwest to be closer to my mother feels interesting. There are many times that I miss aspects of New York and tonight I missed having my drummer/ songwriting partner there with me playing alongside me, but on the other hand, I am gaining loyal fans who I really appreciate. My mother and step-father came out to show their support.

"We sho aint got a whole lot of time" Miss Celie's Blues

A family member has passed on which means I will have to go to the South and show my support. Death will definitely come for us all at one point. So, if you are not doing what you love, you are not living. Time is passing. I am putting the finishing touches on new songs with my writing partner. It will be great when the songs are completed, but there will always be more to write as long as I am living. I am never so alive as when I am creating and performing.

Embryos

The new songs are coming out. Let the games begin. I am contemplating in participating in Make Music NY again this year. AB and Toby called. We will be recording new music in June most likely. I am buckling down. My fans keep me inspired to keep on keeping on. Love also does. Love does everything when you think about it. It can make you get out of bed in the morning or stay in bed in the morning. :) Anyways, I am working hard to complete this new project. It is too bad that AB and Toby don't still live here. We would be creating a storm and spreading it all over the place. Lots of lightning.

I don't know why, but for some reason, I have been thinking a lot about Brad from Sublime.
Fucking heroin man. One of my friends was trying to play matchmaker with us when I was younger. We spoke on the phone for a while and I will never forget how he talked to me like he had always known me. He was fine and I loved his voice. Watching this video makes me remember moshing and feeling so free. I get sentimental sometimes and think about the true people that I have known. I am thinking about California a lot too. That is probably why. I need to go cool out. I miss being able to go to the beach whenever I wanted to. The guys are different here. People feel more guarded when you walk down the streets. It is just different.

New

New Songs. Bring it. Chords are coming first this time for some reason. I used to write the lyrics first once upon a time. Now everything is all over the place.

I can not wait to be settled and have my own little studio. Just one of the goals. My own little puppy. I would to have one of this foo foo diva pip squeak dogs in the city though. I always make fun of the rich old ladies with their tiny little accessory dogs, but the good thing is they are easy to travel with. Who knows.
